The Woodcraft Folk wishes to educate young people about the choices available to them in a positive and engaging way. However, it is vital that clear policies are in place regarding the use of drugs, tobacco and alcohol at all Woodcraft Folk events. These policies must be produced in line with the guidelines outlined below.

Drugs

• The Woodcraft Folk does not tolerate, permit or condone the use of illegal substances at any of its events.
• Any members found using illegal substances at an Ealing and Hammersmith District Woodcraft Folk event can expect to face disciplinary procedures in line with the Behaviour Policy.
• The parent/carer of any young person under the age of 18 found in possession of, or having consumed, illegal substances will be contacted and asked to collect their child immediately. The young person's attendance at future Woodcraft activities will be in jeopardy.

Alcohol

• Alcohol is not allowed at Group Night meetings. However, we aim to promote a sensible attitude towards the consumption of alcohol at other times.
• No Alcohol will be purchased for, or supplied to, any person or persons under the age of 18.
• At all events, there will always be at least two non-drinking adults on site, at least one of whom will be a driver, in case of emergencies
• No person shall drive a Woodcraft Folk vehicle or transport Woodcraft Folk members while under the influence of alcohol, even where the amount of alcohol is insufficient to cause a positive breath test
• Adults must not drink alcohol at any programme activity intended primarily for young people eg when supervising a Pioneer or Venturer disco or party.
• At camp, alcohol is not drunk until after Woodchip, Elfin and Pioneer bedtime.
• We expect any adult consuming alcohol at camp to tidy up after themselves before retiring; especially ensuring that all empty bottles, cans etc are cleared away and that no alcohol is left accessible by children
• The parent/carer of any young person under the age of 18 found in possession of, or having consumed, alcohol will be contacted and asked to collect their child immediately. The young person's attendance at future Woodcraft activities will be in jeopardy.

Tobacco

• No tobacco or tobacco derivative will be purchased for, or supplied to, any person or persons under the age of 18.
• Smoking may only take place in designated smoking areas, which must be discrete and away from areas where under-18s are likely to be present.
• Smokers must comply with relevant legislation, including that concerning not smoking in enclosed public spaces - this includes any tent.

Managing Incidents

• Where incidents occur at camp, if possible they should be dealt with on camp by office holders. If not an ad-hoc group should be convened of no less than three Keepers who are not involved in the issue to be discussed.
